Update 10th Aug r.e. INSET DAY
Dear Parent and Carers,
I am writing to you to briefly update you regarding our plans to open in September. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter, and for your continued support of BRAC.
Once again, we are awaiting government guidance on how afterschool and breakfast Clubs are anticipated to run safely, we are expecting this guidance to be released soon, after which we will have a more significant update to offer. Currently we are working with Bishop Road Primary School to see how we could best manage the space we have and looking at solutions to keep children in the same bubbles that are expected to be in place at school.
It is likely we will be required to make significant changes to the way BRAC operates. Once we have a clearer picture of what that entails, we will send out a more detailed update, hopefully by Friday 14thAugust.
For now, we have had to take the decision not to open for the INSET Days. We appreciate that many of you rely on BRAC to provide essential childcare on the INSET Days, as we have always done. However the implications of maintaining ‘class bubbles’, has led us to this decision. Without the structure of afterschool club or a normal school day it will be extremely challenging to keep children in their set ‘bubbles’ and we will be at risk of undoing all the hard work and plans that the school has been putting in place these last few months. BRAC as a whole will also benefit from having the additional days to organise the building in preparation for the rest of the term.
Once afterschool club has resumed we are expecting a need to close at 5.30pm instead of 6.00pm so that the building, toys and equipment can be deep cleaned after every session. Please can you make arrangements so that your child/ren can be collected by 5.30pm.
As an organisation BRAC is still determined to provide the quality wrap-around childcare we have always prided ourselves on, and with your continued support can overcome the challenges we are now facing as we learn to operate under different circumstances. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their understanding and adherence to new restrictions during the Summer Holiday Club. You all helped to make it a safe and successful one, and it has been a joy to see the children playing and laughing together again.
We hope all our BRAC families are coping during this difficult time. If you or your family need support we have a wealth of resources and organisations we can signpost you to for issues such as supporting children’s mental health, family bereavement, safeguarding/child protection etc. You can contact any one of the BRAC team, I have listed our email addresses below.
Yours sincerely,
Eleanor
