BRAC was founded back in the 1980s by a small group of parents, whose children attended Bishop Road Primary School, to provide care after school for each other’s children whilst they worked. Over the years, the Club has expanded its services to provide wraparound care for Bishop Road pupils to include After School Club, Breakfast Club and cover on Inset Days. We also run Holiday Playschemes for all primary aged children.

BRAC is overseen by a voluntary committee of parents. We welcome any expressions of interest in joining the committee, so please get in contact if you would like more information. Being run by a parent committee ensures that the interests of the community and the families we cater for are central in any decision making.

BRAC is an independent, not-for-profit limited company. We are registered with Companies House and Ofsted. BRAC rents a building on Bishop Road Primary school site, and although we work very closely with the school, please be aware that we are a separate organisation.

Play is at the heart of everything we do at BRAC. We believe we provide an essential service that allows children the freedom to socialise and participate in group or individual activities as they wish. We build strong relationships with the children which means we can plan activities based on their interests. We value the learning and developmental benefits of play and ensure that all children can access the same opportunities and experiences in a safe environment.
